Life as an advocate began unintentionally when her son was diagnosed with Autism (non-verbal), ADHD and Anxiety. Alisa quickly realized that her skills as a business owner as well as an emergency services communications personnel gave her the skills she needed to effectively advocate for her son in both medical and educational settings.
Alisa is a host of a podcast “Happy and Independent” that focusses on empowering parents in their own journey of advocacy for their child. She coaches parents with on how to effective advocate for their child and get results. She also supports professionals in how they can better support the families they serve. She publicly shares her family’s story to help spread awareness and to ensure that families don’t feel like they are alone. Alisa believes that each parent is the perfect advocate for their child. She’s on a mission to change the world one confident advocate at a time.
Alisa currently lives near Toronto, Canada with her husband, two kids, a service dog and a rescue.
